Very hot temperatures in Feb then vintage in March of gave us great fruit intensity to work with. 14mths in new American oak hogsheads certainly complimented the lush fruit in this wine. A bouquet of fresh black fruit aromas and a rich spicy earthiness intermingled with smoky oak. A palate that is well balanced showing toasty plum and cherry fruit flavours finishing with smooth firm tannin. This wine was a legend in its day and still shows developed fruit intensity and fantastic structure. A treat to have and drinking beautifully! It will need to be decantered. Alc12.8%.
